No Escape From the Ex-husband by Summer Winters

Chapter 117

Chapter 0117

Samantha felt a burst of confidence and sneered. Then, she pushed him aside and

walked past him without answering.

That indifferent look seemed to mock him.

Kendrick couldn’t help but recall when Samantha wrote the word “bas ta rd” on his

face after spending a night with him.

Was she wearing the same mocking expression back then?

Suddenly, Kendrick thought that the current Samantha might leave just like that.

He grabbed her delicate wrist, pulling her back into his embrace. He swiftly closed

the door behind them and forced her head against his chest.

Samantha was taken aback, uncertain of Kendrick’s intentions.

She couldn’t see him, but his chiseled face softened into a tenderness he

shown before.

“Stay. Don’t be mad.” He wanted to tell her. However, those were words that he

would never say in this lifetime.

Samantha was at a loss in Kendrick’s arm. She struggled to get out, but his strong

embrace kept her immobilized.

“Don’t move,” Kendrick said, his voice magnetic. It seemed to cast a spell that made

Samantha cease all resistance.

Now quiet in his arms, Samantha couldn’t fathom why her intense hatred for him

seemed to diminish a little.

As she listened to his powerful heartbeat and inhaled his familiar scent, she was reminded that this was everything she had yearned for during those years of

waiting.

But… she had tried so hard back then and never got it. Wasn’t it too late now?

Samantha closed her eyes, feeling as if tears were welling up.

Suddenly, she opened her eyes wide, revealing a hint of resentment. She lifted her sharp, high heel and stomped on Kendrick’s foot.

The sudden pain made Kendrick grimace.

In that split second, he released his grip. Samantha broke free and left without a word. She did not look back.

Samantha despised this side of her. She fought to hold back the tears threatening to spill.

She consoled herself. Those were just minor setbacks, nothing compared to what she had endured before.

Fearing Kendrick might chase after her, she took long strides. Her high heels were in the way. In the end, she took them off and continued running.

Kendrick’s eyes followed her fleeing figure in silence. He stood there without pursuing her, and as he watched her leave, he narrowed his eyes.

Samantha left the hotel and ran barefoot for quite a distance.

People gave her strange looks, wanting to offer help, but she ran too fast for anyone

to ask.

She stopped in her tracks, panting, and glanced back at the hotel. No one was chasing her, and her heart relaxed a bit.

She must look quite a mess right now, undoubtedly appearing vulnerable.

Samantha put on her high heels again and took out a tissue to dab at her slightly moist eyes, trying to make herself look less disheveled.

Standing at the intersection, she decided to call a cab to go home.

After waiting a long time without a cab in sight, she noticed a red Ferrari parked by

the roadside. The window rolled down, revealing Francis’ fiery red hair and alluring

face.

They hadn’t seen each other since the incident at his mansion.

Nathan had questioned her countless times, but she always brushed it off, saying Francis was busy.

“Get in if you don’t want to stand here until it gets dark,” he said.

Samantha hesitated momentarily, then opened the car door and got in.

The atmosphere inside the car suddenly became tense and awkward. Samantha didn’t know what to say.

In the end, all the words she had in mind condensed into a simple “Thank you.”

This thank you held so much meaning.

It encompassed years of his care for her and Nathan and the fact that he always

appeared by her side when she was at her lowest.

As if saying it once wasn’t enough, Samantha said sincerely again, “Thank you.”

Francis chuckled self-deprecatingly and then said, “Don’t just say it. If you really

want to thank me, give me a k*ss.”

Things were just like how they were many years ago.

However, Samantha had lost her boldness. She no longer had the courage to face

her feelings.

Years ago, she hadn’t expected that one act to lead to so much entanglement

between her and Francis.

The car smoothly moved along the road, and the sky was beginning to turn dark.

The evening sunlight streamed into the car, casting a sl anting glow on the faces of

the two people.

Outsiders couldn’t discern their expressions, let alone understand their thoughts.

The car stopped at a gas station.

Francis turned to Samantha and said, “Go to the restroom and freshen up. If you

don’t want Nate and Alexis to worry, don’t appear in front of them like this.”

Samantha hesitated for a moment, then nodded. She got out of the car and headed

toward the restroom.

Francis watched her slender figure and sighed. “No matter what you do, I just can’t

let you go.”

He didn’t understand why Samantha appeared at the intersection alone and looking

so desolate.
