Love’s Second Act by Alvis Midden

Chapter 51

Chapter 51

Natalie looked back at Calvin, who was holding Yvette in his arms. Yvette did not look panic after Natalie exposed her, though.

She was hiding in Calvin’s arms calmly instead.

Calvin had already put Yvette down when Natalie rushed forward earlier. Yet, the sight of him. holding Yvette with one hand and protecting her in his embrace was so ironic.

Calvin was also stunned by what had happened. He looked at his hand before shifting his Natalie. The flicker of guilt in his eyes was concealed.

What remained was a warning and disappointment to Natalie.

Natalie, on the other hand, felt disappointed in him, too.

“How many times has this happened?” Natalie asked.

“You are becoming more lawless and rude now,” Calvin replied coldly.

Natalie harrumphed at that.

gaze to

At that moment, Calvin looked like his father did every time his father spoke to Calvin’s mother. Both of them were undoubtedly the men of the Jeffords family.

Women were nothing to them.

“It’s true that women are nothing in front of the men in the Jeffords family. I thought Calvin would be different from the others in the Jeffords family, yet he’s just the same as the others. The moment he turns hostile, he will view things as a patriarch. Everyone has to listen to him, and everyone is wrong.” Natalie thought.

“Calvin, you make me sick. After saying that, Natalie turned around and left. She did not want to see Calvin again.

How many times had that happened?

Even Natalie herself had lost count of that.

She had forgotten how many times Calvin slapped her in the face because of Yvette.

He said he

was disappointed in her.

In truth, she was more disappointed in him.

“Stop right there!” Seeing Natalie was about to leave, Calvin wanted to catch up with her, but there was a sudden force in his arms. Yvette had fainted.

Chapter 31

Natalie did not know how she got out of the hospital. Dressing in a thin layer of clothing, she stood. in the night breeze, and the cold wind blew past her.

It made her feel every inch of her bone was chilling. Even so, she felt such coldness was not as cold as the one in her heart.

It was nothing compared to the chill Calvin had brought her.

“Bria!” Natalie called Brianna’s number unknowingly, and the call was picked up in no time. The moment Natalie spoke, her tone was full of helplessness.

On the other end of the line, Brianna was momentarily stunned before asking, “Where are you?”

I’m at the hospital, Natalie replied.

“Are you hurt? Stay where you are. I’ll be right there in a minute.” Brianna hung up the phone without even asking which hospital Natalie was in.

Obviously, she was also panicked.

The moment the phone was hung up, Natalie looked up at the cloudy sky. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she forced herself to hold them back.

Perhaps the heavens felt sorry for her, too.

Rain soon poured down.

When Brianna arrived, she saw Natalie standing in the rain, thoroughly drenched. The sight made one’s heart wrench.

“Nat!” Brianna alighted from the car and ran toward Natalie.

She took off her jacket while running and wrapped it around Natalie later.

“What are you doing? Do you have a death wish?” she scolded.

Natalie was in poor health and couldn’t stand getting drenched in the rain.

Natalie looked at Brianna

Her face was wet at that moment. It was hard to tell whether it was rain or tears, but it seemed she had failed to hold back her tears.

“Where’s Calvin?” Brianna looked at Natalie and could tell why Natalie showed up there.

Natalie merely looked at Brianna.

At that moment…

She even wondered if she would be forced to death if she did not have Brianna beside her.

Chapter 51

Her voice was choked up as she spoke. “He’s inside.”

“Did he take you here?”

Yes.”

“I’ll go in and find him.” Brianna was even more angry when she heard that Calvin had brought Natalie there.

She scolded inwardly, “How could he leave Natalie here in the rain? Where is he? Is he inside the ward with that slut?”

Just as she turned around, Natalie grabbed her clothes and stopped her. “Bria.”

“Let go of me. I’ll tear that b*tch apart for you.”

“No need for that

“Natalie, why are you still so weak?”

Hearing that, Natalie mused, “Am I weak? Yes, I was weak in my previous life. But in this life, I won’t be weak anymore! I just don’t bother to fight with them in this way. I want to use the most normal means instead!”

She requested, ‘Accompany me for a check–up.”

“Are you hurt?” Brianna asked.

“Yeah.” Natalie nodded.

Brianna was even more furious upon hearing that.

However, Natalie did not want to stay there any longer.

Calvin called Natalie after he had settled Yvette down. However, Natalie had switched off her phone. He got out of the hospital and saw Brianna taking Natalie, who was drenched, into the car.

At that moment, he felt his heart ache.

But his eyes soon turned cold at the thought of Natalie’s look in the ward earlier.

Brianna took Natalie to another hospital for a check–up.

The lights were too dim earlier, so she did not notice the wound on Natalie’s face. Now that she had seen the slap marks on Natalie’s face, she was outraged. “How many times has he hit b*tch

Natalie closed her eyes.

She did not want to say anything about that because she had already lost count of it.

“Let me take you home.” Since the check–up was completed, Brianna wanted to send Natalie home. to rest. It was already two in the morning.

However, Natalie shook he

head. “I still have something important to do.”

“What’s that?”

“I want to make Calvin lost!” Natalie’s eyes were full of hatred as she spoke.

Brianna couldn’t help but feel her heart skip a beat when she saw such a Natalie.

Brianna seldom saw Natalie being like that

Apparently, her hatred against Calvin had reached its limit this time.

Brianna wanted to drive Natalie to the café after leaving the hospital, but Natalie refused firmly, claiming it was already late.

She wanted Brianna to go back and rest.

Usually, Natalie would never call Brianna in such late hours, but she felt too helpless that night. She was at a loss for what to do in that situation and only wanted to find someone, asking for a hug. When Natalie returned to the café, Queenie and the others were in immense distress. After several times of amendments, Yohannes’s side request became more ambiguous to them.

“You’re back!” Queenie was bubbling with excitement when she saw Natalie.

After all, Natalie had solid knowledge. They might lose the order if Natalie was not around that night.

Yet, her heart skipped a beat when she saw the slap marks on Natalie’s face.

“Let’s begin!” said Natalie.

“L–Let’s begin?” Queenie was surprised to hear that.

“Uh–huh!” Natalie nodded firmly. The determination in her eyes was unprecedented.

That kind of confidence seemed to be instantly triggered. Looking at her like that made everyone uplift their spirits.

Natalie sat in her seat, turned on the computer, and kept sketching with a pencil.

No one knew where the determination and confidence in her eyes came from.

In truth, it was just because she wanted to make Calvin lose for the first time in his life.

She truly wanted him to lose.

Calvin had never dealt with Yohannes before. He had always stood at the high ground in Quadfield

before, and no one ever made him lose.

But this time…

The café was brightly lit all night.
