Chapter 44 Missing Each Other Daily While not Being able to See Each Other Again
Quincy was being very hard on himself. There was only one person on his mind - Jane.
All he wanted to do at that moment was to look for Jane. As long as he could see her, Quincy would only feel reassured.
He knew the two locations where Jane would most likely appear: the hostel and the villa in Green Island Mall.
Yesterday, she was pretty disappointed at him, so it was very unlikely she would move to the villa.
Nevertheless, Quincy still chose to go to Green Island Mall first.
Perhaps, he was feeling very timid at that moment, having lost his courage to face Jane. Perhaps, he was waiting for a miracle to happen. He was banking on the possibility that Jane would forgive him, and she was now waiting for him at the villa.
Quincy reached Green Island Mall with mixed feelings. He walked towards the villa slowly.
He opened the door to the villa with anticipation, but he was met with no miracle of any kind.
The villa was deserted.
Quincy felt his mood instantly being plunged into a bottomless pit. He couldn't imagine how Jane would think of him after all that had happened. Quincy was overcame with fear when he thought about the possibility.
He went to JM University again. If Jane was not in the villa, that must mean she was in the hostel at that moment.
Despite his fear of facing the current Jane, he would still go through with his pains because not being able to see her was a far worse prospect. His insides were being riled endlessly at that moment. Although Jane might give him a stern scolding or even beat him up, Quincy would feel much better than he was at this moment.
He captured the moment the hostel guard's focus faltered and sneaked into the girl's hostel.
He found Jane's dorm and he immediately pushed the door and entered.
"Jane..." Quincy called out anxiously, but she was not there in the room. Only Lila and her lot were there.
"Get out now, you pervert!" Lila pointed at Quincy angrily as she scolded.
"Where is Jane now?" Quincy was really nervous about Jane's whereabouts at that moment. Where had this stupid girl gone to?
"You mean Jane that bitch? How should I know where that bitch has gone to for her next prey?" Lila answered nonchalantly while the other two girls exchanged a meaningful smile.
"Tell me Jane's whereabouts now!" Quincy shouted in response. He knew that they were hiding from him about Jane's whereabouts. They were just toying with him at that moment.
"I have already told you that, we don't know where that bitch has gone to. Are you deaf? Or are you retarded?"
Lila replied coldly as she gaped at Quincy. The other two girls laughed with even more vigor.
"Get lost now, when you are inside here the whole place starts to stink. How long has it been since you take a bath?" Lila started to push Quincy to shoo him away. The other two girls stood up and was about to help Lila.
At that moment, Quincy was completely infuriated by them. He immediately caught Lila's long hair and pulled hard at it, causing her to shriek. The other two girls rushed towards him to hit him, but Quincy kicked them away and sent them slamming into the door of their room. One of the chains on the door was out of place after his violent antics.
Lila was finally afraid.
"Tell me now, where is Jane?" Quincy asked them venomously. If they were to continue teasing him, who knew what would happen to them next. Not even Quincy could anticipate that. "She has dropped out."
Quincy froze upon hearing that. He never thought of this possibility at all. Why would someone like Jane do that?
"You're talking nonsense! Where the hell is she? If you still don't plan to tell me the truth, I'll beat you to death!" Quincy roared maniacally.
"She has really left school. Our homeroom teacher gave us the news at class in the morning. If you don't believe me, you can ask him." Lila was terrified as she replied with care. She was really afraid that Quincy would do something outrageous.
Quincy's gaze was directed at the other two girls who were currently on the floor.
"She's right, our teacher has said so." The two girls replied nervously and quickly.
So she had really left school? Why? There was no one in the whole of JM City who she was familiar with. Where had Jane gone to?
"When did she leave?" Quincy asked coldly.
"Around 11 or 12am last night. She had packed her stuff quietly and we didn't pay any extra attention on her because we never thought that she had really dropped out." One of the girls answered carefully. Quincy let go of Lila and Lila immediately retreated to one corner while looking at Quincy with fear in her eyes.
At the same time, Quincy turned around and walked out of their room listlessly.
"You damned brat, won't you feel embarrassed for barging into the girl's hostel?" At this time, the hostel's guard had arrived, and she was looking in Lila's direction, "Girls, is he the one who has wrecked your hostel? I will report to the management now so that he will be punished severely!"
"No, it has nothing to do with him at all." Lila replied immediately while straightening out her hair.
"It's not him? Then I won't bother you for now." The hostel guard replied suspiciously, and then she immediately pushed Quincy forward with great force while barking, "Get lost now! If you're looking for your girlfriend, it would be understandable, but you're just a single miserable guy, why the hell did you enter the girl's hostel? You are so embarrassing."
"Lila, why don't you just allow the hostel guard to dish out some punishment to Quincy? This guy is being accused of stealing Kadence's money worth of two million Yuan, and we should just add on to his misery. By then, he would have no choice but to be expelled from school and go home!" One of the girls massaged her painful waist while asking indignantly.
"If we cause Quincy to be gone, how can we exact our revenge in the future?" A cruel smile appeared on Lila's lips, and her voice was seeping with venom, "What's more, if one of the members of the Dragon Organization has some mishap befallen them, we will become laughing stock if we still decided to take this to the management of the school."
Quincy tried to call Jane again, but still, there was nobody picking up.
He frantically searched the whole school and every nook and cranny but he didn't see even Jane's shadow.
At midnight, Quincy dragged his heavy legs to the side of the Redby Lake, and sat down on that slab of rock where he used to sit together with Jane while enjoying their seafood meal. He stared at the full moon illuminating everything from above with a blank expression.
The moonlight was pale white and the night was lonely. He was all alone in the world at that moment.
Jane's happiness, sadness, embarrassment as well as the images of them eating together, walking together and studying together flashed through Quincy's mind like the scenes of a movie. Despite that, he couldn't imagine what Jane would look like at all at this moment.
He couldn't picture Jane, who was all alone by herself, losing herself in fear and helplessness.
A streak of tears slowly dribbled down Quincy's cheeks, and it was followed by more tears.
Quincy had been looking for her for three days, but there was no news about Jane at all. It was as if Jane had never even existed in this world.
On the fourth day, Quincy was consumed by despair, and slowly but surely, his subconscious had been telling him to give up on the possibility that Jane would appear again in front of him.
In the upcoming days, Quincy lived like a mental patient. He didn't go to school anymore as he spent most of his time lying in bed, with a blank expression on his face. Sometimes, he would let out a quiet sob, and nobody could persuade him to hold himself together.
Milo and the lot were quite worried about Quincy, but no matter how he tried to pry the reason from him, Quincy would never utter a word. They thought that Quincy was just bathing himself with sadness after repaying the two million Yuan. On this matter, they were of no help.
If Milo and the lot didn't send Quincy food and beverages, it was highly improbable that Quincy could continue staying alive.
In the end, they couldn't take it anymore. If Quincy continued his self-deprecation, he would finally lose all abilities as a human being. That day, with the three of them accumulating their efforts, they carried Quincy off the bed and into the bathroom, preparing to wash him all over.
"Quincy, you can't stay holed up in your dorm anymore. You can't be there before ten o'clock at night. You should think of a place where you can blow off some steam!" They advised him adamantly before slamming the door to the hostel shut.
While they were still worrying about being way too harsh towards Quincy, they decided to check by opening the door. However, Quincy was nowhere to be seen.
Quincy walked out of the dorm area and once again arrived at Redby Lake. He sat there doing nothing for one whole hour before reaching a realization that Jane wouldn't want to see him in this forlorn state if they were to meet again. She would only be disappointed if she saw him in this current state. He should keep his act together and make sure he was well-prepared before her reappearance. Quincy sucked in a deep breath and stood up. He exited the school compounds and hailed a taxi and ordered the driver to drive around JM City. This was his way to unwind.
While taking in the scenery outside the window, Quincy's heart was full of Jane's images circulating endlessly within him. After four hours had passed, the driver told him he needed to get off work. He had no choice but to let Quincy get off his car.
It was one thirty in the afternoon, Quincy walked into a high-class Western restaurant and chose a good seat. Quincy remembered that he had promised Jane to bring her to such classy places in JM City, but before he could materialize his promise, Jane was nowhere to be seen.
"Sir, do you want to order?" A waiter next to him asked with a smile. He was wondering what could have caused Quincy to be in such a melancholic state even though he was going to enjoy himself in such a classy restaurant.
Quincy snapped back to reality at the sound of his voice.
"I want to order baked lobster with fish flavor, eel soup, seafood pot, walnut chicken soup, black pepper beef steak, braised pork mixed with pumpkin soup..." Quincy proceeded to order more than ten dishes a one go.
"Sir, are you able to finish all of this on your own?" The waiter couldn't help but asked in surprise.
"Just bring me these dishes." Quincy replied faintly.
The waiter was still unsure of Quincy's orders until he had settled the bill. Since he had enough cash, the waiter didn't say anything more as he promised Quincy to bring out the dishes as soon as possible. When could he bring Jane here for a good meal in order to make up for the amount of hurt he had caused her?
The dishes were being taken out one after another.
"Bring me two sets of cutleries." Quincy said to the waiter.
"So you have invited a friend." The waiter smiled as he thought that these dishes were still too much even for two person. He immediately fetched Quincy two sets of cutleries. Quincy looked listlessly at the empty seat in front of him, and an unbearable sorrow captivated his heart.
"Jane."
Quincy picked up a big prawn and put it on the plate opposite him, "Have a taste of this, what do you think about this prawn? I remember you said that your favorite food is prawn."
After that, he poured wine into the empty glass opposite him, "This is red wine made in a French Hotel, and it is a well-known brand all over the world. Take a sip of it.”
The waiter was stunned looking at Quincy's antics. His eyes widened as he stared incredulously at Quincy. He rubbed his eyes from time to time to confirm that there was indeed no one sitting opposite Quincy. He tried to remind Quincy of what he was doing, but it seemed like Quincy couldn't hear him at all as he continued to talk to the air. It was as if there was really someone sitting in that empty seat opposite him. A chill ran down that waiter's spine as a tinge of fear entered his eyes. Was this customer being possessed by a ghost? There must be some apparition sitting opposite him which that waiter couldn't see with naked eyes. Quincy could see that ghost and he couldn't even hear the waiter's voice at all.
In fact, there was never any ghost, it was Quincy who was just deceiving himself.
"This man is really romantic."
"I wonder what has happened to that girl who is supposed to sit opposite him. Has she disappeared? Or was she dead?"
"This is really heart-wrenching."
The female customers nearby who were sensitive could see at a glance that Quincy was doing this to reminisce about his lover.
"Oh shit, take a look at that. There's a madman there talking to the air!" At this moment, someone nearby suddenly exclaimed with a discordant voice.[]
