Chapter 236 [Event] [Entrance Day] [3] Second Year Silver Class
Following Alicia's impressive entrance, the rest of the students in her class seemed rather ordinary. None could match the attention she had garnered.
Roda Moonfang, who had attracted nearly as much attention as Alicia, ended up in the Silver Class, while Allen was placed in the last class, the White Class. These three were undoubtedly the leaders among the First Years. Incidentally, there were only three classes for each year.
Curiosity gnawed at me regarding Alicia, so I turned to John for information. "Do you know anything about her?"
"No, don't ask me about anything from the Game and the subsequent ones. I just skipped through all the scenes," John replied nonchalantly.
I couldn't help but twitch an eyebrow at his response. "Then you'll have to rely on my rather fuzzy memories."
"Or we can just ignore her," John suggested.
"True, but she still plays an important role, even though we don't see it from Victor's perspective. In my playthrough, I didn't bother to mend their relationship, so I'm in the dark," I explained.
After the First Years were sorted into their respective classes, they were led to the banquet hall for a celebratory feast. It was a way for the new students to get to know their seniors and vice versa. Additionally, since it was the first day, classes weren't scheduled to begin immediately.
"Good afternoon, everyone. I'm Harvey Indi Zestella, and I'll be the teacher for the Second Year Silver Class."
Ah, I remembered this man from earlier.
"Victor's teacher, right?" John also recognized him.
"Next is Cylien Najel Elaryon." Harvey continued, addressing a [Main Heroine] from the [Second Game], also known as the Elaryon Princess.
Cylien stepped forward, her beauty otherworldly. Her hair, a mesmerizing shade of ashen gold, was swept back to reveal her pointed elven ears and the graceful curve of her neck. Despite her confidence, an innate air of innocence surrounded her, radiating from her leaf-green eyes. Unlike many of the other girls, she opted for a long white skirt, modestly covering her legs, in contrast to those who favored shorter attire.
Harvey's smile remained as he read the next name on his list. "Celeste Indi Zestella."
Melfina, who stood behind him, also seemed to be smiling. Right next to her was a young man with also white hair who was smiling as well.
A murmur of excitement rippled through the crowd as another stunning beauty emerged onto the stage. Just like the day before, Celeste looked absolutely enchanting, her smile equally captivating but tinged with a hint of pride this time.
"They're likely calling the students in order of their ranks," John mused.
"But we weren't even here last year. Where would we fall?" I wondered aloud.
"No idea," John shrugged.
In Victor's class, Cylien seemed to hold the top spot, closely followed by Celeste. This arrangement wasn't too surprising, considering both were exceptionally intelligent and hailed from Great Noble Houses. It was only fitting that they ranked at the top.
Celeste joined Cylien, engaging her in a friendly conversation. As children from the Great Noble Houses, they all knew each other, albeit not to the extent we did in Celesta. Nonetheless, they weren't strangers. In fact, Celeste and Cylien seemed to be friends.
"Victor Raven!" Victor's name was called, and as expected, the typical chorus of girlish squeals erupted throughout the hall. Victor strode confidently forward and joined the trio of Celeste and Cylien, engaging in a lively conversation with them. Given his status as a Great Noble, he was already familiar with them, particularly Cylien.
"He's already building his harem," John commented.
"Are you feeling jealous? This is his game," I asked.
"Jealous? No way. Frankly, let him build his harem and let's just speed through this game," John retorted. "I'd rather not have you repeat the Jayden debacle by involving yourself too much."
"I'd prefer not having anyone left frozen in place for his sister's sake," I snorted. "I don't intend to repeat what happened with Jayden and Milleia. I'll let Victor and his Heroines do their thing, but we do need to befriend the Prophetess to secure the Happy Ending."
"I'm onboard with that, but I have no clue who she might be. In my playthrough, it was Roda," John admitted.
The Prophetess was one of the four Main Heroines: Celesta, Roda, Cylien, or Elizabeth.
"Selene Janet Tepes."
A sudden chill settled over the room as that name was called, the same name associated with the [Villainess] of the [Second Game]. The sound of footsteps echoed as Selene made her way forward, her raven-black hair dancing with every step. Her cold, crimson gaze added to her eerie beauty as she advanced with an air of detachment.
Selene was the [Villainess], but she also happened to be the twin sister of the last [Main Heroine]. Unsurprisingly, she hailed from a Great House too—the Tepes House, alongside the Raven House, representing the might of the Vampires.
I didn't need to explain further that she was also drop-dead gorgeous, catching the breath of every man in the room. As if it wasn't enough, her skirt was high enough to get a proper look at her long pale white legs.
Selene joined the trio of Celeste, Cylien, and Victor, her focus solely on Victor. In simple terms, she was infatuated with Victor to an almost terrifying degree—akin to Layla's obsession with the Prince, but with a twist. While Layla had fixated on the Prince, this time, the Villainess herself had fallen for the Protagonist. Sounds like good news, right? No potential for chaos?
Wrong.
Victor wasn't Jayden, readily accepting the attention of any world-toppling beauty. He had standards, and unfortunately for Selene, she didn't match them. Selene was consumed by an intense, almost vampiric obsession with Victor. Moreover, she despised any woman who dared approach him, attempting to eliminate them at all costs—a surefire way to make Victor loathe her. Trust me, her obsession was truly something else. If you compared Layla's previous fixation on Alfred, Selene's obsession with Victor could be classified as nightmarish.
As if destiny were playing tricks on them, they all ended up in the same class. Bloodshed was a distinct possibility in that classroom, given the situation.
Following that, the names that were called out were mostly unremarkable, prompting me to breathe a sigh of relief. I really didn't have any interest in joining those groups; for one, Selene's presence was a major deterrent, but also, I wasn't too keen on being in a class with Victor and his closely-knit circle of friends. I was more comfortable remaining an outsider—after all, I had already faced enough trouble and annoyance with my own group of childhood friends last year in Celesta.
"It seems we're either headed for the White or Gold Class," I mumbled.
John's expression twisted slightly. "The Gold class... that's a nightmare."
And I couldn't agree more.
The Second Year Gold Class was infamous for being the worst of the lot. It was populated by psychos, racists, and all sorts of supremacists. For someone like me and John, it would undoubtedly be an incredibly unpleasant experience.
"Good luck with the 'lesser humans,' then," I retorted with a chuckle aimed at John.
He shot me a sideways glance, unfazed. "I'm Half. My mother is a High Human."
"Aunt Alyssa, a High Human?" I echoed, utterly dumbfounded.
"Yeah, otherwise, why do you think she was such good friends with your mother, Aunt Oryanna, and Aunt Olivia?" John shrugged nonchalantly.
"Aunt Olivia is a High Human too...?"
John nodded. "Yeah, Layla and Miranda are also Half High Human. Weren't you aware of that?"
I was left without words, my surprise evident. Now I finally understood the peculiar bond between my mother and Aunt Olivia, as well as Aunt Alyssa's connection to them.
"If we end up in the Gold Class, we're in this together," John stated, his tone annoyed. "But the best outcome would be the White Class."
He had a point.
Of the three classes, the White Class was the most appealing for me, despite the potential annoyance from some of the students there.
Please, I thought silently, just let me end up in the White Class.
"Amael Idea Olphean."
"Huh?" I blinked in surprise, Harvey's steady gaze fixed on me.
"Amael Idea Olphean," he repeated, his tone neutral.contemporary romance
John nudged me with his elbow. "It's you, Edward."
"Get rid of that hidden smug smile, you jerk," I cursed John before I took a deep breath and walked forward as calmly as I could manage.
Of course…
I should have foreseen it.
I should have fucking foreseen it.
Lady Luck has never been on my damn side.
