Her Mythical Warriors (Book Two)

Chapter Chapter Thirty-Six: Her Chosen Mate

What do I do now?” Akira cried.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Brynhildr asked.

Akira looked at her ancestor. ‘What is she talking about?’

“Listen to your heart, child.”

Akira closed her eyes and felt a pull—her heart was pulling her to her chosen mate. Akira turned to her warriors and opened her eyes.

“No,” Akira whimpered as she fell to her knees, “can’t be.”

“What’s wrong?” Wolfric asked as he and her other warriors rushed to her.

Akira watched her warriors gather around her and looked into each of their eyes. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked at them.

“Could they have really blessed me?” Akira whispered.

“What’s going on?” Darius asked, his hand soothing her back.

Akira burst into tears and fell against Wolfric. She kissed him with all her love and joy.

Her other warriors moved away from her; they knew Wolfric would be the one.

Akira stopped kissing Wolfric and pulled her other warriors back to her. She stood and looked down at their handsome faces. She reached her hands out and touched them.

“Polemistés mou (my warriors),” she cried.

Her fingers slid over each of their cheeks. She turned in a circle as she touched them, tears streaming down her cheeks as she smiled at them.

“It’s all of you,” she whispered.

“What?” Darius queried.

“I don’t understand,” Zelious said, confused.

Akira laughed as she leaned toward Wolfric and kissed his lips. “I was so afraid of losing you,” she said, looking into his eyes.

Wolfric smiled, “you will never lose me, little one.”

Akira nodded and stood, looking at each of her warriors again. “I was afraid of losing all of you.” She looked at Niall. “Even you. I know we just found you, but I feel as though you have always been with me.”

Niall smiled. “I feel the same, little one.”

Akira shook her head. “I can’t believe this. I get to keep all of you!”

“Wait, are you saying all of us are your chosen mates?” Zelious asked.

Akira nodded as she wiped tears from her eyes. “I felt nothing different with each of you from the moment I met you. You are all mine, and I am all yours.”

“So, we can continue sharing you?” Malique questioned.

Akira grinned at her vampire, “yes, my Vampire Warrior.”

Malique snarled as he tackled Akira to the floor. Wolfric chuckled as he moved out of the way.

“Seriously? We waited this long to discover that we all belong to her?” Darius asked as he watched Malique fuck Akira. “That was fucking fast,” he stated.

Wolfric chuckled, “you should have seen them the first time they fucked.”

“Let me get this straight. All of us are her bodyguards and her chosen mate?” Niall asked.

Wolfric nodded. “Seems that way.”

“But how is she so certain?” Darius wondered.

Wolfric pointed at Malique and Akira. “Well, if we each take her, and nothing happens, then it’s true. We are all her chosen mates.”

“I’m next,” Darius growled.

Wolfric chuckled. He had no problems waiting his turn. After all, nothing has changed.

He will get his—again and again.

“Are you going to tell me?” Julianne asked the following day as she and Akira sat at the dining room table.

Wolfric and Zelious were in the kitchen fixing breakfast while the others were packing, getting ready to find their way back to Akira’s realm.

Akira and her warriors had fallen asleep in each other’s arms after making love for what felt like days.

“Who’s your chosen mate?” Julianne asked. “None of them seem upset, so I have no clue who it is.”

Akira smiled. “That’s because I don’t have one.”

Jules frowned. “What do you mean you don’t have one? I thought all Havents have a chosen mate. Come on, you don’t seem upset, either. Is it Wolfric?”

Akira grinned.

“I knew it!” Jules shrieked. “Everyone knew he was your chosen mate.”

Akira shook her head.

Jules frowned. “Oh no, he’s not? Then it must be Malique.”

Akira shook her head again.

Julianne growled. “Damn it, girl, who is it?”

“I told you, I don’t have one.”

Julianne rolled her eyes. “Something is wrong here if the most powerful Havent doesn’t have a chosen mate.”

Akira leaned closer to her best friend. “It’s all of them.”

Julianne blinked. “Wait. But you said you don’t have one.”

Akira shrugged, “I don’t. I have five.”

Julianne stared at Akira for a moment, then screamed so loud Akira had to cover her ears. Julianne leaped across the table and tackled Akira out of her chair. Everyone in the house turned to them.

“What’s going on?” Wolfric asked, standing over them.

Akira laughed and smiled up at her wolf. “I told her.”

Wolfric grinned and returned to the kitchen.

“Get off me,” Akira complained as she pushed her friend off her.

Jules laughed as she stood and helped Akira off the floor.

“What happened?” Stella asked as she joined them.

Akira smiled at her little friend. She told Stella what she’d told Jules.

Stella studied her for a moment, then smiled. “That’s pretty amazing,” she said.

Akira nodded, “I know. I couldn’t believe it myself.”

“Uhm, I need to go tell Fin.”

Stella hugged Akira, then ran outside.

Akira and Jules looked at each other and shrugged.

Stella ran outside and found her brother practicing in the yard.

“Fin!” she called out.

Fin stopped and turned to her. “What’s up?”

Stella stopped beside her brother. “We need to get a message to Grandmama.”

“Why? What’s going on?”

“Akira found her chosen mate.”

Fin grinned. “Is it Wolfric? Grandmama knew those two had a connection. Though she thought it may be the vampire too….”

“It’s all five of them,” Stella hissed.

Fin frowned, “no,” he shook his head, “can’t be.”

Stella placed her hands on her hips. “It’s the truth. Have you ever heard of a Havent who is so connected to all her warriors?”

Fin shook his head, “but….”

“Come on, give me the notepad. Grandmama needs to know.”

Fin nodded and handed his sister the notepad.

Stella wrote a quick message to her grandmother and whistled for their bird messenger, who was always nearby. It flew down to them and took the note Stella held out to him. The twins watched the bird fly away.

Stella looked at her brother, “don’t tell them we notified Grandmama until we get the okay from her.”

Fin nodded and went back to practicing with his sword.

Stella frowned. She hated keeping secrets from her friends. But this is a secret she can’t tell, not until her grandmother gives the go-ahead.

After breakfast, Akira helped Wolfric clean the kitchen. So many unanswered questions swirled around her head.

“Are you all right?” Wolfric asked.

Akira looked at him and shrugged. “I’m happy—if that’s what you mean.”

He dried his hands and pulled her into his arms. “I am happy too. But you seem to have a lot on your mind.”

Akira sighed, “I do.”

“What is it?” he asked, kissing the top of her head.

She pulled out of his arms and looked up at him. “When will you tell me why the Gods have blocked everyone but my warriors from seeing my soul?”

Wolfric closed his eyes. He knew this day would come; he didn’t figure it would be so soon. When he opened his eyes, she was watching him with suspicious eyes.

“Guys!” Wolfric called without looking away from Akira. “I think it’s time we tell Akira what we know about her father.”

The cabin got eerily quiet.

“What about my father?” Akira questioned. “What does he have to do with the Gods protecting me? Because if it was from him, they didn’t do a good job of it.”

Wolfric wrapped his arm around her shoulders and led her to the living room.

Akira looked around the room at her warriors and friends. They looked to be hiding a big secret, all except Niall. Of course, he’s new; they probably haven’t told him yet. She looked at Julianne and frowned. Even her best friend knows. What is going on?

“Have a seat,” Wolfric said as they stopped by the couch.

Akira sat on the couch and stared up at her warriors. What in the world is so terrible that they looked like they were afraid to tell her…

“Did my dad find us again?” she asked, fear lacing through her.

“No,” Wolfric assured her, “Apollo has not found us.”

Apollo. He didn’t say—your dad or your father. He said, Apollo.

“What’s going on?” Akira queried.

Everyone in the room sat on a couch, chair, or floor. Akira felt like she was in a Broadway play as every eye turned to her.

“This is really creeping me out. Please tell me….”

“Apollo isn’t your father,” Malique stated.

Akira’s mouth dropped open. “What do you mean—he isn’t my father?”

“Malique,” Wolfric growled.

Malique shrugged. “It’s better to rip the bandage off. Don’t you agree?” He looked at Wolfric, and Wolfric grunted.

“I guess since the Gods talked to me, I should be the one to tell her,” Darius said.

Akira looked at her Pegasus Warrior. “The Gods told you?”

Darius nodded. “Because I am a demigod, they communicate with me often. Especially about you.”

“What else have they told you about me?” Akira asked, her eyebrows furrowed.

Darius shook his head. “Other than not letting you die again, nothing much.”

Akira sighed, “please tell me. Why did the Gods hide me?”

Darius sighed, “okay, this is all we know. They won’t give me any more information. They say it’s up to you to discover….”

“What the fuck?!” Akira cursed.

Wolfric and Malique chuckled.

“Potty mouth,” Malique said, smirkingly.

Akira glared at him, and the vampire threw his hands up, still grinning at her.

“Do they talk to you about me?” Akira asked Zelious, their other demigod.

Zelious shook his head, “I didn’t know I had a Havent until I found you in the ocean. The only time they talked to me was when they kept whispering in my ear to save you. At least, I think it was them.”

Akira looked back at Darius. “Please tell me.”

Darius nodded. “Apollo isn’t your father. Your mother’s original chosen mate got her pregnant before Apollo killed him and your mother’s other warriors….”

Akira gasped. She’d already figured Apollo was responsible for her mother’s warriors’ deaths. But to find out he’s not her father, that he… he… shit, she couldn’t finish the thought.

“Who’s my father?” Akira questioned.

“His name is Lysander. His grandparents are demigods, and one is related to a God,” Darius stated.

Akira sucked in a breath. “Does that mean…?”

“That’s why she has five mythical warriors, and all five are her chosen mates. She’s a demigoddess,” Niall whispered, staring at Akira.

Akira swallowed. “I’m a what?”

Darius smiled, “Zelious and I aren’t the only Demi’s here, Akira. You’re a demigoddess. Your father was a demigod, and we don’t know what else. But he passed it down to you.”

Akira sucked in a breath. “Is that why the Gods hid me?”

“Part of it,” Wolfric admitted.

“Did you not hear him say you’re related to an actual God?” Zelious asked.

Akira swallowed again. “Who am I related to?”

Darius scooted to the edge of the couch and took Akira’s hands into his. “You are the great-great niece of Zeus.”

Akira felt light-headed. She fell back against the couch and stared up at the ceiling. “Zeus is my uncle?”

“On your father’s side, yes,” Wolfric answered.

Akira closed her eyes; this is some crazy ass shit. That explained why the Gods hid her. If anyone but her warriors saw the power of the Gods… But does she have Godly powers? Yes, she’s a powerful healer, but she doesn’t even have her ancestor’s gifts. Other than being able to kick ass with a sword. But none of this explained why she’s so small.

Akira opened her eyes and sat up. She looked around the room and shook her head.

“How long have you known about this?” she asked.

“For a while. But we weren’t sure when would be the right time to tell you. The Gods told me to keep it from you for as long as I could,” Darius said apologetically.

Akira sighed. “Is there anything else you guys are keeping from me?”

“No,” the three warriors who have traveled with her the longest, answered in unison.

“No one has said shit to me,” Zelious said.

Niall smiled. “I haven’t been here long enough to have secrets.”

Akira smiled at her merman and new warrior, then looked at the other three. “I guess we should get going before it gets any later.”

Her warriors smiled at her, and they all stood. They gathered their bags and headed out the door.

Now that she has all five of her warriors and her chosen mates—they can finally return to her home realm.

Akira looked at her warriors and grinned—they’re all hers.
