Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Sofia didn’t finish her sentence, but Ian’s expression revealed that something had indeed happened between them.
“Mila, believe me. That night, Sofia and I hadn’t seen each other for a long time, and we both had a little to drink. I drank too much and fell asleep. I don’t remember what happened.”
Ian urgently grabbed my hand, explaining.
But I pulled my hand back, full of disbelief.
“So Sofia was telling the truth? You were with her when I had the car accident and lost our baby?” Tears streamed down, even though I knew I was acting, my heart still ached at that moment. Ian shook his head like a rattle.
“Mila, I don’t know. Please forgive me this once, just this once. Will you forgive me?”
I turned my head away.
“Ian, even if I forgive you, do you think with the way this news is spreading, you can still secure the resort project?”
Ian froze, his expression turning anxious.
“Mila, I… I don’t know. Give me some time, and I’ll handle it.”
Then Ian grabbed his car keys and left.
Ian was a smart man. He would know what to choose.
After Ian left, I made a call.
“Keep hiring internet trolls. I want Ian and Sofia’s names on every major headline by tomorrow.” Sometimes you have to admire the power of money. Sure enough, the next day, Ian and Sofia’s names were on every major headline.
Ian spent a lot of money, but couldn’t suppress the trending news.
Sofia took the opportunity to send me countless messages.
“At this point, I advise you to divorce early. I’m already pregnant. This matter has a huge impact on Ian’s company. You don’t want it to go bankrupt, do you?”
“Mila, Ian doesn’t love you. Keeping him by force is useless. Just like your dead baby, you can’t hold on to something that doesn’t belong to you.‘
By evening, lan returned home with dark circles under his eyes. Seeing me, he was filled with shame. “Mila, I’m sorry. I was wrong. I failed you.”
When Ian said this, I knew he had made his choice.
Ian took a divorce agreement from his briefcase.
“Mila, I can’t lose this deal. It’s our only chance to go public.”
“But I can promise you, once we get through this crisis, I’ll remarry you. I don’t love Sofia Moore. The person I’ve always loved is you.‘
I glanced at the terms on the divorce agreement.
All properties under my name, 30% of the company’s shares, plus 10 million in cash.
Ian still couldn’t part with the company shares. Although it was slightly below my expectation, this was the best outcome.
“Alright.”
Without thinking, I decisively signed my name on the divorce agreement.
Ian stared blankly at my signature for a long time before carefully putting the papers away. He only left a “sorry” before leaving.
