Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life (Flora and Cedarvale ) Novel

Chapter CHAPTER 318

Chapter 318

In the hospital room, the tension was palpable. Adler’s condition had taken a nosedive, and his vital signs were fading fast.

Moments earlier, his illness had suddenly worsened. Yara had done everything she could think of, but nothing seemed to work.

“Yara, what the hell happened? Didn’t you say Adler was stable? Why did he suddenly get worse?” Zack burst into the room, with Pax and Jason hot on his heels. As soon as they heard Adler’s condition had deteriorated, they had rushed over.

Yara was sweating bullets, baffled by the sudden downturn. The surgery had gone well, and Adler had been stable for hours afterward. But now…

“The boss! The leader has no heartbeat!” a doctor shouted, his voice cutting through the room like a knife.

The alarm blared, its urgent beeps making everyone’s breath catch. Connor had just arrived outside and, hearing the commotion, his face darkened even more as he strode in. The crowd parted for him immediately.

Yara was desperately trying to revive Adler with a defibrillator, but it was no use. Adler had lost all signs of life. He was gone.

“Willensther Adler.. he’s dead…” Yara whispered, closing her eyes as if to shut out the harsh reality. The room fell silent, except for the occasional sob.

Zack covered his face, struggling to hold back tears. Pax’s eyes were red, and Jason was trembling. Adler had been with them since the very beginning, before any of them had joined. He had mentored them all.

Despite the harsh and dangerous conditions at the borders, Adler had volunteered to defend them, enduring countless hardships over the years. He had done so much for the group, and now they couldn’t save him.

Connor felt a tightness in his chest, his breathing heavy. Just then, Flora walked in, catching Yara’s last words. Her brow furrowed as she walked toward the bed.

Everyone was so wrapped up in their grief that they didn’t notice Flora until she was right there.

12:30

“What do you think you’re doing?” Yara snapped, pushing Flora away, her voice dripping with bitterness and resentment.

Flora barely gave Yara a glance. “If you keep blocking me, he’ll really be gone.”

“Ms. Flora, what do you mean? Is there still hope for Adler?” Jason’s voice trembled with a flicker of hope.

“Any longer and it’ll be too late.”

“But Adler’s vitals are gone! He’s passed away! Ms. Flora, I can tolerate a lot, but you can’t joke about Adler!” Yara’s voice was strained, her teeth clenched in frustration. She had poured her heart into trying to save Adler, and now Flora was claiming there was still hope?

“Flora, are you saying Adler can still be saved?” Connor asked, his voice hoarse with urgency.

Flora nodded. “Adler is just in a temporary shock. He’s still alive, but we can’t waste any more time. Connor, get someone to bring three heaters and five pounds of mugwort. And hurry!”

In the middle of summer, asking for heaters? Flora’s request sounded absurd, but Connor didn’t hesitate. He immediately ordered Moss and Beck to get it done.

“Jason, help strip Adler down. Don’t leave a single piece of clothing on him,”

Flora instructed.

Yara, with all her medical training, had never heard of such a bizarre treatment. Seeing Connor trust Flora, she was caught between anger and disbelief. She had said her piece; if Connor wanted to let Flora continue, so be it. She’d just wait to see how Flora would handle the aftermath.

“Ms. Flora isn’t just messing around, is she?” Zack asked, his voice filled with doubt. If Adler was indeed gone, this would only disturb his peace.

“We have no other options now; let’s trust Ms. Flora,” Pax said. “The boss hasn’t stopped her, so let’s just go along with it as a last resort.”

Zack, his eyes still red from crying, glared at Flora. She better not be messing around, or he wouldn’t forgive her.

Soon enough, Moss and Beck arrived with the mugwort and heaters, and

Jason had stripped Adler of his clothes. Given the situation, it was

inappropriate for Flora and Yara to be directly involved, so Connor arranged for a screen to be put up for privacy.

Flora stood outside the screen, only catching glimpses of the frantic movements within. The heaters were placed beside the bed, crackling fiercely, turning the room into a furnace.

Flora instructed loudly, “After heating the mugwort, roll it into balls and move them over Adler’s body, focusing on his chest, abdomen, and the palms of his hands and feet.”

Jason and Pax complied, rolling the hot mugwort over Adler’s body.

“Ms. Flora thinks these unconventional, folk remedies can save Adler?” Yara’s tone was thick with sarcasm as she watched from outside the screen.
