Chapter 72 You Can’t Call the Police
Camila found herself in a dilemma for a moment.
Svetla smiled.
“I don’t expect you to answer me immediately. I’ll give you a week to consider. Take this for now.”
Svetla gave her a consent form for treatment.
“My friend was very famous. There were also many people who sought treatment from him. So you should decide as soon as possible. The earlier, the better for your younger brother.”
Camila took the consent form for treatment. Her heart sank.
She escorted Svetla out of the yard. At that moment, a middle–aged man stepped out of the black car. He had a scar on the left side of his chin.
Camila’s heart skipped a beat. She suddenly remembered Hudson saying that the person who took him away that night had a scar on their chin.
He respectfully opened the car door for Svetla.
“Wait.” Camila called out to the man about to get on the car. “Excuse me, is this gentleman Ms. Felton’s driver?”
“What’s wrong?” the man asked impatiently.
“Nothing much. I just feel like I’ve seen you before. Have we

met somewhere?”
“I have never seen you before. You’ve mistaken me for someone else,” the man’s face showed a hint of panic. He quickly got into the car and stepped hard on the accelerator.
If he had nothing to hide, why did he run so fast?
Camila returned to her room and the more she thought about it, the more suspicious she found that man.
Svetla had someone break her brother’s leg and then
pretended to be kind by treating his leg. Svetla was probably not up to any good.
So Camila took out pen and paper and drew the man according to the image in her mind.
She was drawing so attentively that she didn’t even notice Maxwell standing behind her.
“Who are you drawing?” Maxwell suddenly spoke, startling
Camila.
Camila quickly folded the painting. “I was just playing around with it.”
“Are you the person who drew the one kidnapping Hudson?” Maxwell was not very pleased because Camila didn’t tell him the truth.
“How did you know?” A thought flashed through Camila’s mind.
Maxwell also realized that he had said something wrong.
“I guessed.”

“You guessed it right. I was drawing him.”
Camila took a picture of the portrait with her phone.
“What did you want to do?”
“Of course, I called the police. I wanted them to arrest him. I now suspect that he is involved in the assault on my brother,” Camila said, growing angrier as she spoke.
She was very angry because Maxwell recognized the kidnapper at a glance. This indicated that he had known who the kidnapper was long ago, yet he chose to lie to the police.
Why did he lie then?
Maxwell must have wanted to protect the mastermind behind the scenes – Svetla.
Camila suddenly realized. The affection that Camila had been accumulating for Maxwell all these days instantly vanished.
“You couldn’t call the police.”
“Why can’t I call the police? He might be the one who crippled my brother. I must make sure he faces justice.”
“Didn’t the person who hit your younger brother already get arrested by the police?”
“The police arrested two people. But my younger brother said there were three people who attacked him. I think it might be this person who did it. If the police don’t arrest him, he will always pose a threat to my younger brother.”
“He didn’t know how to do it.”

“How do you know he wouldn’t? Did you conspire with him?” Camila now dares to be certain that Maxwell knows a lot. “Do you happen to know who the person is that hit my brother?”
“Can you please stop assuming everyone is a bad person?” Maxwell sighed, feeling more and more confused as he spoke. He just couldn’t explain it properly.
“How did you immediately recognize that I was drawing a kidnapper? And you won’t let me call the police. Who exactly are you trying to protect?” Camila became more and more agitated as she spoke.
“Is it Svetla? Was she the mastermind behind the scenes, right?”
“Camila, calm down. This has nothing to do with Svetla.”
“Isn’t it true?” Camila looked at Maxwell disappointedly. “Just now, Svetla brought the person in the portrait to our house. Svetla said she wants to send my brother abroad for rehabilitation treatment. Her condition is for us to get divorced.”
Camila slammed the divorce agreement and therapy consent form in front of Maxwell.
“My younger brother said that the man who took him away had a scar on his chin…”
At this moment, Camila received a reply to the message she
sent to Hudson.
Hudson confirmed that the person in the portrait was the one who took him away. The man also resembled the leader of the group that beat him.

Camila showed Hudson’s text message to Maxwell.
“Did you see that? What do you have to say now?”
Maxwell looked at the divorce agreement and fell silent for a moment. Then, he picked up his phone and dialed Svetla’s number.
As soon as the phone was answered, Maxwell turned on the speakerphone.
“Maxwell, it’s so late. Is there something wrong?” came Svetla’s lazy voice from the other end of the phone.
“Did you come to my house tonight?”
“Well, did Camila tell you?”
“Why did you do this?” Maxwell’s tone was filled with disappointment.
“What did I do? I didn’t do anything, did I?”
“Didn’t you say you wanted to send Hudson abroad for rehabilitation treatment?”
“What about this matter?” Svetla seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. “Didn’t you ask me to improve my relationship with Camila? Well, I happen to know an orthopedic specialist from the United States. So, I plan to introduce him to Hudson. It’s just a small favor. Is there any problem with that?”
“Did you use our divorce as a bargaining chip?” Maxwell’s voice noticeably grew colder.
Svetla remained silent for a few seconds.

“I told her that rehabilitation abroad requires someone to accompany her. This process can take several years or as little as a year and a half. Didn’t you both have a prenuptial agreement before? You will be divorced in six months. I don’t want her to hold you back. Camila can also accompany her brother abroad for rehabilitation without any attachments. It’s a win–win situation. How did it turn into a condition for exchange?”
Svetla’s reasons were far–fetched, but Maxwell believed them to be true.
“Did you hear it clearly? Svetla is not that kind of person. Even if you don’t divorce me, she would have sent your brother abroad for rehabilitation. In fact, she has a very kind heart.”
“Stop! Maxwell, I don’t want to hear any of your explanations. I only believe what my eyes have seen. I’m going to the police station right now. I’m going to hand over this portrait to the police and let them investigate for me. I only trust the investigation results from the police.”
“You only have this one portrait. The police won’t go looking for people for you,” Maxwell didn’t expect Camila to become so stubborn when it came to Hudson’s matter.
“Anyway, I had to give it a try. I couldn’t let my brother’s leg go to waste for nothing.” Svetla unexpectedly brought the assailant who had beaten her brother to negotiate with her. It was truly too much to bear.
“Can you calm down? Even if you want to report the case, can’t you wait until tomorrow? What time is it now? I will accompany you tomorrow, okay? Listen to me. We won’t go today.”
