Chapter 720 Make Others Worry
After Skylar left, Radha took out her earpiece and asked Kate in a slightly confrontational manner, "Does Royal Entertainment have a habit of riding roughshod over others? We put much thought into preparing for this interview. Don't you think this behavior is a little too much?"
"Unexpected situations are inevitable. Something came up back at her home. Don't tell me you expect her to calmly go through with the interview if her house is on fire, do you? She wouldn't be in the right state of mind anyway. We can schedule another appointment. I'll even give you more time for the interview. Let's all be a little bit more understanding of each other," Kate replied.
Radha was still reluctant, feeling that she had wasted time memorizing all the information and questions for the interview. She chuckled coldly and remarked, "When I interviewed Saorise previously, she and her manager gave a pretty good impression. Saorise didn't put on airs. Isn't there a saying that goes something like the more incompetent one is, the more highly they tend to think of themselves."
Kate had to suppress her anger after hearing that. I know what Radha is like. She's a senior journalist who started at the bottom and worked her way up until now. When I was the center of attention, she was still lugging a camera and running around in the field. But now, the tables have turned. Everyone in the industry knows I'm not on friendly terms with Saorise's manager. Hence, she's deliberately saying all this to upset me."
Meanwhile, Skylar did not even have time to change her clothes. After throwing on a long, white Fila down jacket and a mask, she headed straight to the hospital. She bumped into Sheldon at the entrance. He was cracking jokes with the young nurse at the reception desk, and from the latter's shy expression, it was evident that she was interested in him.
Even though Skylar was all covered up, he knew it was her at one glance. Her self-preservation instinct is so strong. She didn't even forget her mask and sunglasses. Had it not been for all the gorgeous women I've met, I wouldn't have such a sharp eye.
Sheldon pointed toward the ward furthest down the corridor and said, "He's getting an injection. His temperature is running too high. If I hadn't happened to be on the phone with him and noticed that he suddenly went silent, he would've lost consciousness while alone at home."
A wave of regret washed over her. I shouldn't have left Tobias alone at home. How could I have failed to consider that something like this would occur? To put it bluntly, nobody would've known something had happened to Tobias if not for Sheldon.
She wanted to go and see Tobias, but Sheldon called out to her. "I know I don't have much right to say this, but no matter how busy you are with work, could you be busier than my brother? Men just want a woman who'll shower them with love and concern. You should care for him a little more. He moved out of our house because of you, and now he doesn't even have a housekeeper to look after him." Skylar felt immense guilt, and her heart was filled with indescribable uneasiness. She nodded. “I understand. What happened this time was my fault. I'm going in to check on Tobias. By the way, are you okay after that scuffle last night?"
He patted his chest as he replied, "Do I look as though I'm not okay? Tobias helped to block the bottle thrown at me. Those little b*stards don't even know the extent of their capabilities and dare to offend anyone. It goes without saying that they should spend the rest of their lives behind bars."
Seeing how energetic Sheldon looked, she could not help thinking how much trouble Tobias had gone through. He worries so much about his younger brother. Since I was little, I've always envied families with multiple kids and the close-knitted bond between siblings. Of course, my family is the exception. Avery and Hayden couldn't be happier if I were to die an untimely death.
She pushed open the door to the ward. Thinking that Tobias was asleep, she kept her movements light.
He had a needle stuck into the back of one hand while holding his phone and scrolling through it with the other.
Taking off her mask, she walked to the hospital bed and asked anxiously, "Why did you end up here? Before I left, you even said you were fine. You're really one to make others worry."
