Ex Husband Goes Money Comes Chapter 456
Chapter 456 Fulfill Her Wish
Bentley didn’t pick it up and didn’t answer.
Breenda stared at his expression and raised her eyebrows. “If you think you can’t survive the cruel test, you can quit at any time and go back to where you belong.”
Bentley immediately got up and walked towards her, picking up the thick stack of documents.
He said, “I won’t quit. Don’t worry, Ms. Callis.‘
He would at most get beaten and humiliated if he really couldn’t finish that.
If he didn’t accept the test, it meant that he rejected Breenda’s test. He was afraid that Breenda would be even more distant from him and it would be harder for him to win her heart.
Bentley took the documents back to his seat and started to carefully translate and typed them into the computer.
Breenda looked at Bentley’s serious expression and held back her laughter.
The two quickly got back to work. The office room was harmonious. No one said anything to break the silence and peace.
Two and a half hours later, it was lunchtime. Breenda got up, stroked her skirt, and looked at
Bentley.
“Mr. McGraw, you can’t skip lunch no matter how busy you are. Are you coming with me?”
Bentley worked very hard but had finished translating only nine documents. He was devoted to the task and answered without thinking, “I’m not hungry yet.”
Breenda’s face instantly sank. Idiot, she thought.
She shook her head helplessly and walked towards the door.
Bentley finally realized that Breenda was inviting him to have lunch together.
He immediately put aside the computer and chased after her. “Mrs. Callis, I’m new here. Can you pleas e buy me lunch today?”
Breenda kept walking, casting a sidelong glance at Bentley. “As a secretary, did you just ask your superior to buy you lunch on your first day at the company? Pretty arrogant, Mr. McGraw.”
Bentley was rendered speechless.
He was gathering all the cells controlling his emotional intelligence in his brain, trying to come up
with the best answer.
“I mean, you take me to lunch, and I will pay for it.”
Breenda sized Bentley up and down. She thought he was funny and she even praised him, “That’s an interesting answer. The always silent Mr. McGraw said such pleasing words. You’ve made progress.
Good.”
Bentley smiled and felt happy.
However, Breenda added, “But didn’t you come to live in our house because you were penniless and lo st your phone and wallet? How are you gonna pay for lunch? Will they just give you the food because you are Bentley McGraw, or is that y our lost wallet will fly back out of thin air?”
Bentley’s face paled.
He thought, did I slip?
Did Breenda guess something?
As Bentley thought, Breenda’s face turned cold and she mocked, “You are not good at this, Mr. McGra w. You should’ve acted more like it if you planned to pretend to be miserable.”
Bentley was speechless.
Breenda looked away and went straight to the elevator.
In the elevator, none of them said anything and the atmosphere was a little heavy.
Bentley had just left some good impression of him on Breenda, but his effort all went in vain. He couldn’ t feel more defeated.
He explained, “I really didn’t have my wallet and phone with me on the night I went to your house. I was drenched in the rain all night. I didn’t lie to you.
Breenda was unmoved. “It’s my parents who agreed to let you stay. It’s useless to explain it to me. I
won’t believe you.”
Tinkle.
The elevator door opened.
Breenda walked out first in her high heels.
“Breenda…” Bentley followed, still trying to explain.
“Call me Ms. Callis.” Breenda didn’t look at him.
“Alright, Ms. Callis. I can explain,” said Bentley.
“We are in the company. We don’t talk about personal matters at work. Mr. McGraw, please notice
that.”
Bentley was forced to mute.
He had no choice but to follow Breenda.
In Salt Lake City.
Ever since Viola came back last night, the atmosphere in Viorin was weird.
It was lunchtime, but Viola hadn’t said a word.
Ormand sighed silently. The good thing was that he knew that Viola was thinking about the Russell
thing, otherwise, he would think that she was angry with him again.
“Viola, stop thinking about it. Have lunch first. We can discuss that together later.”
Ormand scooped a bowl of fish soup that he cooked himself and put it in front of Viola.
Viola didn’t take the soup and she still looked grim.
“In the morning, I asked Jimmy to contact Ronian. I wanted to go to the old house to visit Pamela and S herlyn, but Ronian turned me down.”
Viola looked at the soup in a daze. Her feelings were mixed. “Even when I asked to meet him, he refus ed, saying that he had important work to do.”
Ormand pushed the soup in front of her and said, “I can talk to Ronian. He can refuse to meet you,
but he has to see me.”
“Viola, have the soup first. Leave the rest to me.‘
Viola felt much more secure when she heard Ormand. It felt wonderful to have someone to rely on.
In the middle of the afternoon, Ormand contacted Ronian.
However, Ronian was indeed on a mission out of town and had no time.
“Viola, I’ve talked to Ronian. He will meet me at Viorin tomorrow morning. You can talk to him
then.”
“Alright.” Viola added, “How is Russell doing? Is he behaving well?”
Ormand said, “They told me that he hasn’t made any trouble so far, but they didn’t hear him cooking. He
“Is he going on a hunger strike?” Viola frowned. “Forget it. He won’t starve because of that. And Sherlyn
Ormand nodded and pulled Viola into his embrace. His cheeks caressed her neck intimately.
He said in a hoarse voice, “Viola, you finally take half a day off. Your period is over, right? How
about we…”
Before Ormand could finish speaking, Viola pushed his head away. “Don’t, Ormand. We need to wait at
Ormand was rendered speechless.
At the same time, in the Callis Group.
After lunch, Bentley went back to his office without any delay. Even though his hands had become weak
Breenda couldn’t help but wonder if she had asked too much when she saw Bentley work non–stop.
She brought a glass of water to Bentley’s desk and glanced at the unfinished documents.
It was only an hour before the time to get off work.
There were only three documents left untouched. He had finished translating more than forty
documents.
He had almost handled an enormous amount of work within one day.
Breenda was a little amazed. She found that Bentley was extraordinarily capable.
Unfortunately, he had no interest in the business. Otherwise, he would be quite a character in this
field.
Bentley stopped and turned back to stare at Breenda when he sensed her gaze. “What? Did I do anythin
Breenda clicked her tongue. “No, you are very capable, Mr. McGraw. It seems my wish of helping you re
She smiled and went back to her seat.
Bentley looked at Breenda, lost in thought.
He wondered if Breenda meant to teach him a lesson.
And Bentley thought she had every right to do that. She had suffered so much in the past year when
she pursued him. He was treating her so coldly. It was finally his turn to be after her, so it was
natural that Breenda wanted to get back at him.
Thinking of that, Bentley deleted the newly translated documents quietly but resolutely.
