CURSE OF THE MOON REBORN

Chapter 68 VAMPIRE BLOOD

“How were you able to get into this room, unnoticed?” Marquis loomed around him. Her gaze fixed on his face. Stephan’s face.

“I wasn’t unnoticed. I just killed them. Why do you ask?” SJ put his foot against the box, he could feel Christina’s fingers grasping at them. He held Marquis’s gaze. One thing Stephan had drummed in his head is to never turn his back at his enemy.

Christina started to fuss, then wailed.

“Hush, Chrissie.” SJ cooed at her. She went quiet and held on to the edges of the box.

“I can’t believe you put her on mute with just one word.” Marquis laughed.

“How about you pick her up and we get out of here before Daddy comes running through the door.” Ric cocked his head to the left.

“I don’t understand why we have to be behind the rest,” Scarlet complained. She was excited that she was finally going to hold her daughter, but was also impatient and terrified.

“Be patient,” Kayla whispered.

“I don’t know why SJ had to take after his father,” Scarlet muttered.

“Because he is the exact copy of me, only more courageous,” Stephan said. “Are you ready for this? It’s going to be a whole different world in there. A whole lot of dying and killing.”

“Don’t annoy me. The only thing I want is to get my children out to there.” Scarlet fussed.

“Ok, let’s go. The two of you will be with the twins. They will be able to find the children faster.” Stephan said.

“I don’t think so, but that is ok.” Scarlet moaned.

“Scarlet why are you being so difficult.”

“Because I can’t help thinking that we wouldn’t be here if you had just killed that bitch two years ago.”

“Can we talk about this later?”

“Sure Hun.” Scarlet scowled at him.

“You need to meet him halfway or the two of you will not be able to put your family back together,” Kayla whispered to her.

“Kayla this is not Humpty Dumpty. And glue can’t fix this problem.”

“Are you ready? We are going in fast and hard. Kill anything you do not recognize, and try not to get killed.” Mathias instructed.

They charged into the hose and Scarlet followed behind, her dead heart in her hand. They split up, Scarlet, Kayla and the twins went searching for the children as the rest fought to clear their path.

Stephan broke off from the group. He was going to look for Marquis and this time he wasn’t going to let her live.

“Did you hear that?” Marquis stiffened in fear.

“He’s here. But how?” Ric peeped out of the door. The hallways were clear, and for a fraction of a second, he thought of making a run for it.

“No, you don’t. You stay here with me.” Marquis pulled him back into the room. “You wanted to kill Stephan and you are finally going to get your chance.”

“We need to find a way out of here. I maybe ambitions but I am not suicidal.” Ric opened the window, he was going through it if he had to.

SJ picked Christina up from the box when she started crying. He moved to a corner far away from the two vampires.

“Are you coming with me or not?” Ric asked.

Marquis’s eyes darted from the door, that Stephan was bound to burst through, to Ric’s hand.

“Make up your mind fast. I will go without you if I have to.”

“Ok.” Marquis made up her mind, the murderous look that Stephan had a few hours earlier facilitated her decision.

“And where do you think you are going?” in one fluid movement Stephan had pulled them away from the window and shut it closed.

The two terrified vampires headed for the door, but Solara had it blocked. “I saw you sneak off, so I assumed this was where the action was.”

“You were right.” Stephan grinned at Marquis.

“She’s so beautiful Stephan. A true image of her mother.” Solara gazed at the bubbling baby clutched to SJ’s chest.

Stephan hadn’t noticed they were in the room until that moment. He followed Solara’s gaze to the furthest corner of the room.

“She is, isn’t she?” he beckoned SJ to him, not taking his eye off the two.

Christina climbed into her father’s arms. She looked at him as if she knew exactly who he was.

“At last, my little Christina in my arms.” He handed her back to SJ reluctantly. He wanted to continue holding her, to stare into her eyes, her mother’s eyes. But he had to deal with her abductors.

“You have her now. Think about my offer. We could be happy, just the four of us.” Marquis uttered.

“She is delusional.” Solara chuckled.

“What is she talking about?” SJ stared at her, puzzled.

“She wants to be your new mommy,” Stephan stated.

“What? That’s hilarious.” SJ barked out laughter.

“Think about it. We could be happy.” Marquis took Stephan’s hand as she pleaded.

“I did think about it, but my wife isn’t really on board with that plan,” Stephan smirked.

“She’s dead. I’m not.”

“Marquis I’m not. Funny thing, the only thing you managed to do to me that day turns me into a vampire.” Scarlet walked to the center of the room, her fingers balled into fists at her sides. “I would appreciate it if you didn’t touch my husband.”

“This can’t be happening.” Marquis staggered away as Scarlet hunted towards her.

“That’s what I kept on saying when I realized that you stole my baby from me. I finally came to terms with it, and it’s now time you did.” Scarlet stalked around her like she was stalking prey.

Marquis froze when Kayla came up from behind her,

“Hi remember me.” Kayla waved at her a smile on her face.

“Right now all I want to do is hold my baby in my arms. But to do that peacefully I have to kill you. I have to be sure you won’t jump me from behind.”

“I don’t trust blondes either.” Kayla closed in on the distance between them.
