Chapter 37 She Tries Being Nice to Him Wholeheartedly
Renee said those words in one breath and hung up the phone.
Then she looked up at the bank manager opposite her and smiled, “I’m eaving then.”
‘Sure. Ms. Braun, I’ll send you off. You’re a distinguished guest for us all.”
The bank manager was nothing but enthusiastic.
Renee tried her best to remain calm, walked into the elevator, and put back her mask again. When Riley, Carley, and she were back in the car, she leaned back in her seat and took a deep breath. “Gosh! I almost gave it away.”
“Good for you, Renee. You are so good at acting.”
Riley looked back. “I thought you divorced Quincy already. How come you are still cooking for him?”
“My divorce with him was a secret, and neither family knew about it. He helped me out the last time my brother got in trouble. What can I do? I have to make compromises.”
Renee didn’t mention being threatened by Quincy into becoming his 24- hour personal secretary, because she didn’t want to burden them.
Carley subconsciously lit a cigarette. “If you ask me, you shouldn’t have left with nothing. Instead, you should have been greedy and asked for great money from him. Now you look like a pushover and make way for that phony.”
“Don’t smoke.”

Riley took the lighter away, and Carley raised her eyebrows and smiled coldly, “What are you doing? Are you this eager to kick down the ladder?”
“Actually, I’m pregnant.”
Renee’s words made Carley, who had always been a tough woman in business, look pale. Carley looked over in shock. “Is it that bastard’s baby?”
“Yes. I’m not telling him. I’ll raise the baby myself.”
Rence took Carley’s hand and put it on her belly. “I’m almost three months pregnant. The last time I checked, I heard the baby’s heartbeat.”
Carley looked unhappy at first, yet her expression changed when she felt Renee’s belly. “I don’t feel anything.”
Renee smiled, “Me too, in fact. It just feels a bit weird.”
Riley glanced in the rearview mirror and said, “It’s fine. The three of us will raise the baby together. We won’t let that bastard know.”
“He’s right. The three of us can afford to raise a baby.”
Renee smiled, knowing that she wasn’t alone.
She went back to the wedding place. After all, after using Quincy as an excuse to pull a stunt, she should at least complete her play.
In the evening, Renee made some seafood soup and a few light side dishes.
The taste was to Quincy’s liking.
“Mrs. Patel, you have excellent cooking skills. Since you left, Mr. Patel has changed several cooks and lost his temper quite a few times.”

Renee smiled, “It’s fine. I can teach you, including Quincy’s usual preferences and taboos.”

She pretended not to know what these young maids were thinking and directly taught them all the experience she had accumulated in the past two years.
Quincy was not easy to please.
It had taken her two years to learn about his habits, but she no longer needed them.
After all, after teaching those maids, Quincy wouldn’t need to call her in the middle of the night for his clothes anymore.
She had desperately wanted to be a part of his life and had tried being nice to him wholeheartedly.
Yet now, she just wanted to get away as quickly as possible.
At 7:00 p.m. sharp, Quincy’s car was parked in the yard.
He entered the hall and handed his coat to the servant. Then he looked up and saw Renee sitting on the couch with fruit tea next to her hand. She was sitting idly with a tablet.
She was without makeup and looked gentle and quiet.
Renee put the tablet down and stood up. “You’re back?”
“Yes.”
Quincy looked away and turned to the dining room, followed by her brisk footsteps.
Everything was the same as before, which made him feel somehow better

“Give it a go, Mr. Patel.”

Renee took the initiative to place some soup in front of him and set up the cutlery, and then she stood aside.
Quincy raised his head. “You can say now. What’s the matter?”
He thought, “She won’t suddenly be so obedient and offer to cook for me.
“Yet after knowing what she was about to cook, I just couldn’t help coming home early from work, like I was possessed.”
“I had some self–reflection and felt that since you had helped me so much, I should be a competent secretary, Mr. Patel.”
“I’m glad you realize it.”
Quincy had some soup and was in a better mood.
“Mr. Patel. I’m leaving if nothing. It’s evening now, and I’ll get out of your hair.”
Quincy’s hand paused, and he put down the spoon. “I’m going on a business trip for a few days. Get everything packed.”
“You got it.”
Renee turned and left directly. Quincy looked at her back, and a thicker of doubt flashed across his eyes.
He thought, “I gave her a chance to come back, and she’s in such a hurry to leave?
“She called me this afternoon, all coquettish, and now she’s acting cold?
“Her tactics have improved a lot.”
