Chapter The Aurerian Pendant
Within the confines of the King’s quarter, King Altair and Hargan engaged in discussions marked by a blend of curiosity and suspicion.
“What are your thoughts, Hargan? King Altair inquired, his expression reflecting deep contemplation.
“I sense that she’s not entirely truthful, Your Majesty. However, there’s also an elusive feeling that she means no harm,” Hargan responded, his gaze revealing a thoughtful demeanor. “It’s a perplexing situation.”
“I feel the same way, strangely,” the King admitted, his uncertainty evident in his tone.
Despite their shared perception that Rosche might be concealing certain truths, an unspoken understanding prevailed that she posed no threat—for reasons not entirely clear.
As their dialogue unfolded, King Altair abruptly recalled a significant discovery. “By the way, Hargan, I came across this in the marketplace.” He presented a pendant with intricate designs, passing it to Hargan.
The advisor examined the pendant closely. “There’s a carving... It seems to be an ancient language, Your Majesty.”
“It’s Auranthian, Hargan,” the King clarified.
Hargan raised an eyebrow in surprise. “You mean the Aurerian language?” seeking further clarification.
“Yes, taught to us by Ithilien, and the engraving you’re observing... ‘Aurianthiara Avanth.’ It translates to ‘Child of Aurerian.’ An ancestral keepsake passed down through generations of the Aurerian bloodline,” King Altair explained, unveiling the pendant’s profound significance.
“Really? How did this end up in the marketplace?” Hargan asked, his curiosity piqued.
“I don’t know. That’s exactly what I’m pondering as well,” the King confessed, deepening the mystery surrounding the pendant.
As the day unfolded, the atmosphere shifted to daylight. During the meeting with the officials, the King conveyed his intentions to embark on a diplomatic mission with the Council of Twelve, emphasizing his temporary absence. In his place, Queen Melisandre would take charge of managing internal affairs, ensuring the seamless functioning of the kingdom in his stead. The generals, including Hargan, received this information as part of the preparations for the King’s departure.
