Beauty Is The Beast

Chapter 33

UNEDITED

My mouth hung open in shock at the view before me. We had stepped out into a hallway. A grand hallway with ceilings so high I had to crane my neck to see the top. Several chandeliers hung from the top, making the hallway bright as if it were sunlight. More doors lined the halls on each side of us. I wonder if they all lead to elevators. "Close your mouth or I might put something in it." Enzo leaned over to whisper in my ear.

I turned to him with a smirk on my face. "Hopefully it's bigger than the last thing you put in it." Kyle snickered from beside me.

He growled, I yelped when I felt a pinch on my neck. "Did you just bite me?" I shoved him away. There was a satisfied grin on his handsome face.

"If you two are done flirting, I'd like to get this meeting over with quick." Kyle, always so patient.

Enzo took the lead heading down the hall. "Try to keep that smart mouth of yours under control so I don't have to kill anyone today."

"You want me to open my dumb mouth then? I don't think that'll be any better." I say, giving him an innocent smile.

I jumped back in shock when he turned on me, eyes blazing. "This is serious Valentina, these are not the kind of people you want to have as enemies while you're carrying."

I cocked my head at him, "Why would I care? Aren't you meant to protect me if that happens?" I wouldn't purposely cause us to have enemies, I just enjoyed seeing the fire in his eyes.

A low growl left him, "I'd kill them all for you, make no mistake about that." With that he turned and resumed his walking, just as a short plump lady rounded the corner.

"King Lucifer," She bowed, I rolled my eyes, "sorry I am late, I was sent to escort you to the dining hall." She was still bowing, I watched her curiously.

"Thank you, you may stand." Enzo replied in a tone I never heard from him before. It was cold dark and detached. The sound of death.

Her eyes went to me for a split second, then she scurried away. Kyle was silent and surveying the area behind us, falling back.

I wanted to fall back too, not because I was scared, but Enzo was giving off an extreme amount of hostility. It was so strong I feared if I walked directly next to him I'd choke on it. He even had a few dark shadows clinging to him, I've never met this Enzo, and honestly I was a bit afraid.

"I can not show weakness here, any sign of weakness will make them believe they have a right to challenge me." He didn't turn around as I heard his voice, nor did I see his lips move.

"Are you in my head?" I pushed out, watching him for a reaction. He gave a barely subtle nod. "Those shadows..."

"Are apart of me, always have been. I keep most of my power concealed around you, no reason to overwhelm you while you're carrying my child." A few of the shadows started to extend, reaching out to me like curious children. "They will not harm you." He assured when I flinched away from them. Draco tilted his head, watching them curiously, as was Enzo.

We entered the dining room and most sunk away back to their master. A few continued to linger around me.

The dining hall was empty except for a large table sitting in the middle of it, but there were no occupants. It was filled with an assortment of food. From dinner to desert, all freshly cooked.

"Master will be in soon, please make yourselves comfortable." I watched as she disappeared through a side door, not looking back once.

"How are you not withering on the floor right now?" Kyle asks, pulling out a chair for me. I frowned at the action, but took the offered seat.

"I don't wither." I shrugged, trying to get more comfortable with my wings. It was almost impossible as they were smashed against the back of the chair. As Enzo passed he grabbed the top, breaking it off before taking the seat to the right of me. I gave him a grateful look.

"Only I can withstand being in the same room as him when he's extending out his power, and that's because I'm family. You don't even seem to notice it." His eyes were wide with confusion, staring at me from the seat on my left. He was right, I noticed his power at first in the hallway. But now I feel nothing. Was Enzo blocking me from being effected by it? The dark shadows that swirled in his eyes informed me he was still in beast mode, still using that deadly power.

"Maybe because I'm carrying his child?"

"Maybe."

"Enough, we have guests coming." Enzo halted our conversation just as a door on the far end of the room opened. A low hiss left Enzo when a man stepped through.

He was tall, almost seven feet with midnight black hair. It was slicked back, hanging down to his shoulder. His skin was beautifully tanned, and I could feel the power oozing from his skin. The most unique thing about him were his eyes. They swirled with grey and hazel, I've never seen eyes like that.

A much shorter man followed in behind him. He had short spiky electric blue hair with eyes to match. The contrast when they stood next to each other was obvious.

Kyle started to fidget in his seat. I shot him a questioning look. He looked pointedly at Enzo. I turned and realized why. More shadows engulfed Enzo, he was cloaked in darkness. His eyes had switched from their normal color and was now swirling red and black. He seemed to have grown since sitting down. He looked deadly.

"Enzo." The black haired man spoke. But he wasn't looking at him, he was staring at me.

"Tigan, I suggest you advert your eyes now. Before they no longer be attached to you." Enzo growled.

My eyes widened, this was Tigan!? What was he doing here? I took him in once again. He slowly dragged his eyes from me and back to Enzo.

"She's carrying, and from the way she clings to you I'm guessing it's yours." I unconsciously had moved closer to Enzo. Though I wouldn't say I was 'clinging' to him. He started to grin wickedly, malicious intent clear as day in his eyes. My wings uncurled from behind me, extending to their full length. Making both of the men eyes come back to me. Oh gosh, now was not the time for my wings to seek attention! "And she's fallen." I started to feel a probing sensation against my head, like someone was trying to get in it.

Enzo stood up, huge red leathery wings shot out behind him. They flapped and a gust of wind flew toward the men, causing them to fall back. "Are you challenging me?" He snarled. Kyle whimpered next to me. He must've been excluding a lot of power. I stared in shock at his wings, they were huge and sharp. Deadly like the owner.

Draco stood at attention on my shoulder, noticing Enzos anger. He unfurled his wings are well, snorting out small flames. He was not effected by Enzo power as well.

Tigan stood, dusting his black suit. "Me? Challenge you? I would never." He growled smiling. The words he was saying didn't match his eyes and voice at all.

Enzo studied him. "Good, because I assure you, you wouldn't win." He calmly took his seat again. "Thazar, pleasure to see you again." He addressed the other guy, dismissing Tigan altogether.

"What is he doing here?" I pushed out hoping we could still communicate that way. I couldn't hide the slight fear I felt being in the same room as him. There had to be a reason Enzo didn't want me to meet him. And the way he watched me...like he's just been offered a four course meal.

"I didn't know he would be here, someone failed to inform me. I believe it was intentional." He was mad, each of his words were almost a growl.

Thazar had nervous written all over him, it was practically leaking out of his pores. He stepped forward. "I'm honored to have you in my home sir."
