Chapter 29
"What?" I sighed, feeling his burning stare on the side of my head.
He squinted at me, a confused look on his face. "I can't hear what you're thinking and it's driving me insane."
"What?" He was always able to read my thoughts. Especially in times when my emotions were high and my thoughts were everywhere. "You can't hear them?"
Tilting his head he studied my wings again. "No, not since you woke up. I thought you learned how to block me out, but that's not the case. Something else is blocking me." His fingers grazed the tip of my wing. "And I think it might be these."
"You think my wings are blocking you from reading my mind?" He nodded. "How? That doesn't make sense."
"Nothing about you makes sense." That was something I could agree with. "Let's get some rest." Get some rest? I didn't feel tired at all.
"Why?"
He raised an eyebrow, laying down on his side of the bed. "Because you need it?"
I rolled my eyes, "I'm not sleepy."
"Come here," He tugged on my wing, trying to get me to lay back.
I protested. "I can't lay on my wings." Sighing he reached for me, maneuvering me as if I weighed nothing, placing me on top of him in a straddling position. "You expect me to sleep like this?" I was a back sleeper, I didn't like sleeping on my stomach throughout the night.
"Yes, only your head will be here." He pointed to his hard chest. He was still wearing a shirt, but I knew about the hard muscles underneath.
"May as well sleep on the floor then." I joked.
"Suit yourself." I punched him in the stomach."I love it when you get violent." He chuckled, grabbing my fist bringing it to his mouth. I snatched it away before he could plant a kiss on it. Weirdo.
"I'm not sleeping on top of you Enzo, help me put my wings away." I gave him what I hoped was a good pout.
"I think I'm going to kiss you," Ok not the response I was hoping for. "Yeah, I'm certain I'm going to kiss you." He leaned forward wrapping a hand around my neck, tugging my mouth to his.
I melted on contact. His kisses always did that to me, I couldn't resist. Kissing Enzo was almost as good as having sex with him.
His tongue ran across my bottom lip, I opened my mouth slightly. Slipping his tongue in I groaned, I never wanted to stop kissing him. I was glad he couldn't read my thoughts anymore. If he knew how much I enjoyed kissing him his ego would super size.
My back flexed as I pushed myself closer to him, Tangling my hands in his hair.
Suddenly he broke the kiss, I tried not to whimper. Leaning back his eyes settled on something behind me. "What?" I was breathing hard.
"Looks like you're about to take flight." He says curiously. I looked behind me to see what he was talking about. My wings had extended, stretched out as far as possible. It really did look like I was about to take flight. Did that come from kissing him?
"Interesting."
"Yes it is," He eyed them for another minute. "My wings have never done that without my command."
"You have wings? How come I've never seen them?" I was tempted to reach around and touch his back, though I knew nothing is there. My hands have explored his back plenty of times.
"I have no reason to bring them out. I can show you some day if you want." He reached up like he was going to touch mine, but instead grabbed the back of my neck, tugging my head down to his chest. "Now sleep."
"I can't sleep like this." Being on top of him only made my body buzz with energy. There was no way I'd be able to fall asleep. His chest was warm, and not as hard as I expected it to be.
"Close your eyes." He brought his hand up, placing it on the side of my head. His hand was flat against my ear, blocking out all the nearby sounds.
"It's not going to work."
"Shh."
"Enzo." He didn't reply. I tried to lift my head up but his heavy hand was holding it down. I huffed, I had no choice but to lay here. And pretty soon sleep welcomed me.
