Chapter 6: Two Years later
We had not heard from Donna in two years and I was getting angry. Texas have you looked for any updates on Donna yet? Working on it now. I am now searching for Florida for anything on Donna. Then an article came up and I gasped. I opened the door and yelled Cherokee, Beast, Bear I found something.
I gasped as I read about Donna being rescued from an MC in Florida by the Rebel MC. I read the newspaper clippings and was angry. She had been taken as she walked out of her apartment. When she was found she was barely alive. That was four months ago. She is still in the hospital. She is at Lakeland Medical Center.
She had been beaten so bad the doctors thought she would be paralyzed. She had been raped over a period of three or more months. She had almost all her ribs broken, her right leg bone shattered, and her arms pulled out of her shoulder blades. Fuck. She had been tortured.
It also reported that she did not remember her name but friends recognized her face and called the police. She does not remember who she is, where she lives, or if she has any family. She doesn't know if she is married either.
They saw the shock on my face as they walked in. She is at Lakeland Medical Center. She has been there for four months. Here read it yourself. I don't want to. It makes me want to kill someone. We need to take a trip to Florida. We need to bring her back home. This is where she belongs.
We take the new van that has a queen bed and a TV in it. Bring her back home. We have pictures of her with the babies, and at our BBQs and her tattooing in our shop that should be enough to prove we know her. We can get a fake marriage license with her and Bear's name on it and take it telling them she is married to Bear and she was supposed to be on vacation.
We can break into the police department files and put in fake reports of her missing. That will be helpful. Texas get on that. The fake missing person reports and the marriage license. Put the date for one month before she disappeared. We will say she went to Florida on business. Tattoo business.
I will take care of all that he said looking at me. We had everything ready by the end of the week. Then we had Bear make a call to the police department and ask if they had found out about his wife yet. Make it look like he called a week after talking to a police officer there.
They stated to Bear that they had thought he had been called. What do you mean I had been called. Your wife is at Lakeland Medical Center she has been there for four months now. We heard his yelling that no fucking body called him and he wanted an investigation done as to why not.
He yelled that he is on his way to Florida and he wants answers when he gets there. We told the girls what we found out and we were going to bring Donna home. They kissed us goodbye and told us to be safe.
We arrived two days later in Florida and went straight to the hospital. We walked in and asked to see Donna. We cannot let you see her without proof of who you are the doctor said. We watched as Bear put a copy of the marriage license on the desk along with fake wedding pictures, the pictures of Donna holding the babies, and ones at the BBQ.
I think this should be enough proof that she is my wife we heard him say. This is more than enough proof sir. Good. Now we want to see my wife now. Sir, she won't remember you. Why the hell not? Along with all her medical issues she also had brain trauma when she was brought in. She has memory loss. And sir, her memory loss is permanent.
We looked at the doctor in shock. I can see you are shocked to hear this. Are you telling me that my wife won't remember me? How the hell am I going to deal with that? You will need to start over I am afraid. But, what if she ends up not liking me? That I don't know he said.
Can we please see her? She is terrified of certain men and I am afraid some of them are bikers. He sighed and said. Follow me. We walked behind him into the room. Donna? Hello doctor. Am I going to get released soon? Yes, you are. Your husband came as soon as he found out you were here.
Husband? I don't remember being married. What is his name? They call him Bear. Why? Donna don't be scared but he is a member of a motorcycle club. I turned around and said that is your husband. I saw her look at me and scoot up in the bed shaking. I won't hurt you, Donna. I would never hurt you.
I don't know you she said to me. I held out the marriage certificate and pictures. She took them from me with shaking hands. We watched as she read the marriage license and looked at the doctored wedding pictures. Then she looked at the pictures of the BBQ where she was sitting on my lap and laughing.
She stopped at the pictures of her sitting next to the girls holding the babies. I know them. She grabbed her head with her hands. What's wrong? I just got a sharp pain in my head. She looked from me to Beast and then Cherokee. She looked over at the prospect next to us and back to the doctor.
I guess pictures don't lie and there is a marriage license. We have come to take you back home. We brought a new van with a queen bed and a TV in it so that you can sleep or watch TV on the way home. Doctor when can we take her home. The club members can't wait to see Donna. You can take her home now. I can get the discharge paperwork ready along with medication instructions.
When she gets home she will need physical therapy as she is learning to walk again. Thank you doctor she will get the best medical care our city has. What do I wear I asked. I saw a nurse come in. Is there a dress shop close by? Yes down the street. I would get her something that will slip over her arms. Some socks for her feet and underwear.
I sent the prospect to the store and he came back with a summer dress that went to her ankles, underwear, and warm socks. We signed the discharge documents and the bed was wheeled out of the room and to the emergency room where the van was backed up to the door. We opened the back doors and I lifted Donna in my arms and laid her on the bed.
I made sure she was comfortable before shutting the door. I watched as she reached over and locked it. I thanked the doctor and walked over and got on my bike. The van followed us out of the hospital parking lot and onto the road.
