No wonder that in their three years of marriage, Hunter never brought Mia to any social events. He thought she lacked proper etiquette, that she would embarrass him and make him lose face.
In reality, although Mia hadn't received much attention from her parents growing up, she had spent a few years under her grandmother's care. Her grandmother had gone out of her way to hire people to teach Mia proper etiquette. She had learned every gesture, every smile, and even table manners.
Mia believed she could hold her own among any of Haven City's well-bred socialites. After marrying Hunter, she was especially careful with every little detail, confident she was the perfect wife for a prestigious family.
But it seemed she had only been fooling herself. From the start, Hunter had seen her as nothing more than a companion in bed, where etiquette didn't matter.
When Mabel heard Hunter say he wanted her to teach Mia some manners, she finally felt satisfied and smiled, "Sure, I'll find time to give her some lessons!"
"Make sure you do it quickly. Mr. Jasper Sr.'s birthday banquet is in a few days. I'll take her to show her off a bit, and I'll also evaluate your work," Hunter said, his expression calm.
It was as if he had decided on a whim to bring Mia to Mr. Jasper Sr.'s birthday banquet.
Jenna, watching the exchange, sensed something was off, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Mabel glanced at Hunter, then at Jenna nestled in his arms, feeling a bit sorry for Mia. A woman who * didn't have her husband's affection was bound for a lifetime of unhappiness.
Without another word, Hunter walked away with Jenna in his arms.
Mia stood quietly at the entrance of the café, her head bowed and her demeanor gentle. She looked so well-behaved that it was hard to imagine her as the sharp, combative attorney who stood her ground in the courtroom.
Hunter held Jenna in his arms as he walked past, his tone indifferent. "Go bring the car around."
Mia pulled herself out of her thoughts, turned to him, and said, "My car's far too modest to carry someone of your status. Better have Sam bring your luxury car over quickly. If we waste any more time, who knows? Your dear sister-in-law might never wake up again." She sounded genuinely concerned, her eyes filled with sincerity, as if she were truly worried about Jenna's condition.
Jenna was so furious she could hardly breathe. That shameless woman, Mia, was actually cursing her to stay unconscious forever! How utterly despicable!
"If she never wakes up, then you'll be responsible for taking care of her for life," Hunter replied, his tone unusually calm, as if he were simply discussing the weather with Mia.
Mia looked at him and smirked. "Most high-society men sneak around with their mistresses. But you? You seem to want the luxury of openly enjoying two wives at once. If you don't find that disgusting, I sure do."
"Oh? Not willing? Thinking about divorce?" Hunter sneered. "Don't even dream about it!"

He wasn't the type to let go and hand someone over to others. Besides, he still hadn't lost interest in Mia. Letting her go wasn't an option.
Jenna had initially felt a flash of joy when she heard the word "divorce," but by the end of Hunter's words, that happiness drained away.
Mia brought up divorce, and Hunter didn't agree? Impossible!
Mia looked at him with disgust. "You think I'd share a man with anyone else? Dream on!"
She threw his own words right back at him.
Hunter's lips pressed together slightly. "Jenna isn't just anyone."
