Alpha Maximus: Chapter 29
‘This is the first time Levi has been allowed out of the dungeon in over eighteen years, so this better be good, Alpha Maximus!’ Alpha Cal snaps.
Levi squints his eyes at me as Alpha Cal says my name.
‘Your parents tried to save my beautiful mate, my love. She was my whole world,’ he whimpers.
‘I’m sorry they couldn’t save her,’ I say to him.
‘I’m sorry my father killed your parents, Alpha Maximus. I am truly so sorry,’ Levi says.
‘Me too,’ I reply sympathetically.
‘This isn’t some kind of family reunion! So, I suggest you hurry up with your business before I kill you!’ Alpha Cal shouts.
Even though he is old, probably in his late sixties, he is still very clearly strong and well-built.
‘Actually, Alpha Cal, that’s why I’m here,’ I smile.
‘What are you talking about?’ he yells.
‘I have someone I would like to introduce to both of you,’ I say to him. I turn around and take Hope’s hand. She stands next to me. Levi falls to his knees, crying in disbelief. He reaches his hand out for Hope’s.
Alpha Cal steps forward angrily, ‘Anna? How is this possible? I killed you? I killed you myself. This isn’t possible!’ he yells angrily.
Hope steps closer toward them. She is wearing a beautiful white dress with a long wide v on the front. The dress reaches her ankles, and a slit on the left reaches her thigh. She looks like a goddess.
‘My name isn’t Anna,’ she says to them.
‘What kind of game are you playing? I killed you! How are you here?’ Alpha Cal yells.
Hope looks down at her father, who’s still on his knees, crying and looks up at me. ‘I can’t believe you are alive! My Anna.’ he sobs, holding his arms up for me to embrace him.
Hope drops to her knees, wraps her arms around him and cries, ‘It’s not Anna, it’s me, Hope, your daughter Papa,’ she sobs.
‘What! Papa?’ Alpha Cal says.
Levi cups Hope’s face, ‘How is this possible? I knew your mother was pregnant, but no one else knew. She escaped while heavily pregnant, and within a few weeks, Alpha Cal caught her and killed her. I thought she was still pregnant when she was killed,’ he cries.
‘No, Papa. Mother left me near a packhouse by the woods so I could be found. I was a newborn. She must not have long given birth to me. She then ran, leading Alpha Cal and the mob away from me before being captured and killed,’ she says to Levi.
‘Are you telling me you’re my granddaughter and a half-breed vermin?’ Alpha Cal asks.
Hope glares at Alpha Cal, ‘Well, hello to you too! Grandpa!’ she shouts angrily at him.
Alpha Cal bursts into laughter.
After Alpha Cal composes himself, he clears his throat, ‘You do know you’ve signed your death warrant by coming here, my dear sweet granddaughter?’ he smiles.
Hope laughs, ‘I’m actually here to sign your death warrant, Grandpa dearest,’ Hope smiles.
Alpha Cal smirks in thought, ‘It seems we truly are related. You remind me of myself,’ he grins.
‘I have something I would like to say to you, Grandpa, something that is going to send chills down your spine, something you have heard before,’ she says to him, and her hands begin to glow.
‘I Hope Glint of the Healers Coven curse you, Alpha Cal, for the death of my mother shall be avenged by your own bloodline. The day you see my face again is the day you will die!’ Hope says and then swiftly shifts into her wolf, lunging at Alpha Cal.
He pales at her words before shifting into his wolf as Hope lunges toward him. She bites and claws at her grandfather, and he doesn’t hold back, biting her in return. Warriors storm into the room and attack Nathan and Alex. We shift and begin ripping the warriors to shreds.
Hope whimpers in pain. I pounce on Alpha Cal, pushing him off of Hope. He snarls and snaps, gripping my neck with his teeth and rips a chunk out.
Blood trickles from the wound. Hope lunges at him, biting into his neck with all her strength, almost ripping his whole head off ferociously. Alpha Cal drops dead.
We shift back into human form. Hope runs over to me and places her hands over my neck as I begin to lose consciousness.
‘Maximus! Don’t you fall asleep! You need to stay with me!’ she cries.
Her hands glow, and her eyes glimmer with silver.
The large wound on my neck slowly closes over.
Hope wraps her arms around me, ‘Maximus!’ she says, and helps me to sit up.
The warriors in the room are all dead, but new ones enter and bow down around us as their new Alpha and Luna.
‘Unchain him!’ Hope orders, pointing to her father.
He is in shock and speechless at witnessing Hope healing Maximus.
‘You shifted into a wolf, and you were able to heal?’ Levi says, stunned.
‘Yes, Papa, I was blessed with the best of both you and mother,’ she says to him, smiling.
As the chains drop from his wrists, he wraps his arms around Hope and hugs her tight.
‘My daughter, my beautiful, sweet daughter. You don’t know how much it means to me knowing you’re alive!’ he cries.
He suddenly collapses to the ground.
‘Take him to the pack doctor and get him some food, and if any of you harm my father, I will personally rip your head off just as I did with your Alpha Cal!’ Hope warns the warriors.
Nathan and Alex help me sit at a table where food has been brought to us.
‘Eat. You need to regain your strength,’ Hope says, passing me a plate of food. Hope is a true Luna. She immediately took control ordering the guards and warriors to bury the dead and to release any other prisoners. Then ordered the warriors to remove all of Alpha Cal’s belongings from the packhouse and burn the items with his body. Afterwards, she was in the kitchen, telling the pack members to make a great banquet to celebrate her father’s freedom. I was proud of her and greatly admired watching her lead the pack members and warriors.
We’re escorted to a large bedroom, ‘I can’t believe we did it, we killed him, and my father is now free,’ Hope says as she leans down and kisses me passionately.
She suddenly rolls off of me and runs to the bathroom, ‘Hope are you okay?’ I ask as I sit up. I can hear her vomiting. As I approach the bathroom door, Hope opens it and steps out.
‘I’m fine, Maximus. I’m just exhausted and overwhelmed with everything that has taken place today. Let’s get ourselves ready for the banquet,’ she says.
She-wolves knock at our door, gifting Hope with many dresses. She thanks them and picks one out.
‘Close your eyes,’ she says.
I close my eyes and wait as she puts it on.
‘Okay, you can look now,’ she says.
‘You look stunning, Hope,’ I say to her as I twirl her around in her red floor-length dress.
‘Thank you,’ she smiles, ‘Now it’s your turn to get changed,’ she says, hurrying me along.
I find a few suits in the wardrobe and put the nicest one on, ‘You look handsome, Maximus,’ she says, running her fingers down my shirt.
We walk down the stairs to the large dining room where Nathan, Alex, Levi and unknown pack members sit.
They all stand as we enter the room. Levi steps aside from the table and holds his arms out for Hope. She runs into his arms, and they hug in happiness. Levi is wearing a black tuxedo. His beard has been shaved, and he has even had a haircut and is freshly bathed.
‘How are you feeling now, Papa? Have they been treating you well the last few hours?’ Hope asks her father.
‘I feel like a King,’ he smiles. ‘All thanks to you and Alpha Maximus. I never thought I’d ever get out of the dungeon. I can’t believe how much you look so much like your mother,’ he says, cupping Hope’s face.
Hope smiles at him, then turns to face everyone, ‘Let us celebrate the release of my father and the changing of laws!’ Hope shouts as she stands.
I look at her with confusion. She smiles.
‘We own over half of the wolf territories now. You’re also the Lycan King. We have the power to do as we please. No one will defy us as they know we can no longer be overpowered,’ she says to me.
‘Now go and make it known to the rest of the packs. It will no longer be a crime if the Moon Goddess blesses you with a mate from another species,’ Hope announces proudly.
She hands out twelve scrolls to different warriors to give to the Alphas of packs that we do not own to announce the new law, ‘Now go, and if any of them deny our union, our leadership, or our ruling, then they will be sentenced to the dungeons!’ she says.
The warriors nod and bow and take their leave. Hope wraps her arms around my neck, ‘No longer shall anyone be punished for love. No longer will anyone try and destroy you. You are my love, my Lycan, my King, and my everything. I will be damned if anyone tries to hurt you or myself again. No matter what,’ she then whispers. ‘No matter what,’ I say and kiss her passionately.
