I don’t remember how I got to the hospital.
When I arrived, his body had just been wheeled out of the emergency room.
I rushed to see him one last time..
But the doctor gently stopped me.
“Ms. Clark, I suggest you don’t look. It’s better to remember him as he was.” Understanding the doctor’s kind intent, I refrained from lifting the sheet. Noticing something clenched in Julian’s hand, I gently pried it open and found a crumpled piece of paper with handwritten words:
