Chapter 10

For ten long years, I deceived myself into thinking that if I gave my all, he would eventually love me back.

Yet, that day never came.

Now, hearing this from Avery, I could only muster a bitter smile and shake my head. “It’s impossible. He never showed any love for me. He never said a word about it. “Even if, by some miracle, it were true, why didn’t he come to me and explain?” Avery’s smile was more painful than her tears.

“You and I are both fools. He realized he loved you the moment he signed the divorce papers. But by then, it was too late. Things had escalated so much that if he didn’t divorce you, he feared for his own life. You have no idea how vicious the online mob

was.”

“They weren’t just attacking him online. They were camping outside his company, preventing it from operating, and they even stalked his home day and night. Julian fell into a deep depression. There were times when I had to physically stop him from jumping off a building.

“In that state, how could he confess his feelings to you? Even if he had, would

ave believed him? By then, he had lost hope in everything. His final act of kindness was to not bother you anymore…”

Leaving the visiting room, I felt more confused than ever.

Ten years of our lives intertwined in a web of misunderstandings and unspoken truths.

Now, as if a veil had lifted, everything seemed to reach a tragic clarity.

Yet, nothing felt resolved—if anything, it was more entangled than ever.

I didn’t know if I should visit Julian.

Avery had mentioned that his company had gone bankrupt and he was now living in a psychiatric hospital.

I was torn between wanting to see him and keeping my distance.

While I was still hesitating, I received a call from the psychiatric hospital.

They informed me that Julian had jumped to his death.
